Holistic Remedies Which You Probably Have In The House
Garlic – Homeopathic Remedy List Natural Treatments Illness Cures
This small bulb is nature’s powerhouse. It is a natural antibiotic having both anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties. Garlic can tackle almost any illness. To gain the most potent effect, finely mince 1-2 cloves of garlic and stir into a small glass of lukewarm water. It is important that the water is not cold/chilled or too hot (recently boiled) as this can impact negatively on the healing properties. After 3-5 minutes drink quickly- don’t let kid ourselves this will taste good but if you are sick enough you probably won’t even notice the taste. Note: Pregnant women and children under age 12 should not take more than 1 clove of garlic medicinally per day.
Hot Liquids – Homeopathic Remedy List Natural Treatments Illness Cures
Forget the old saying of “feed a fever, starve a cold”. Hot liquids are fantastic and necessary when feeling poorly. Load up on the hot herbal teas and hot lemon water at first sign of illness. The heat helps boost your immune system and a variety of herbs can help with infection. Choose your favorite herbal tea and add to this 2-3 fresh slices of lemon which will infuse through the drink.
This wonderful herb is excellent for stabilizing blood sugar and is an effective antiviral and antibiotic. When feeling ill, mix 1 tablespoon of cinnamon with 1 teaspoon of honey and stir into hot water or any regular/herbal tea to make a spicy and very effective drink that helps relieve coughs, congestion and lowers fever.
This can be made with most readily found kitchen herbs, however if you have access to fresh, rather than dried the benefits will be more noticeable due to the impact of additional oils from the fresh.
• Bring to the boil 1-2 cups of water in a large pot.
• Remove from heat, add 2 teaspoons (dried) or 2 tablespoons (freshly chopped) each of thyme, rosemary and oregano.
• Cover for 5 minutes with a lid.
• Remove lid and put face directly over pot with towel covering your head to hold in the heat, being mindful of the heat – do not do this while water and steam is freshly boiled as steam may burn (hence 5 minute wait time).
• Stay under the towel and breathe in the steam as long as you can, aiming for 15-20 minutes.
• Breathing this steam will loosen any congestion and also kills the viruses and bacteria in the lungs, bronchioles and sinuses.
• You may also add 1/2 cup cider or white vinegar. It certainly will not smell great, but it adds additional congestion relief.
Removal of WHITE foods – Homeopathic Remedy List Natural Treatments Illness Cures
When you first notice symptoms of illness, remove all white foods from the diet. This is any food of white coloration such as processed grains, sugars, milk, cheese, dairy, sweeteners, soda, etc. White foods, in particular processed white foods, suppress the body’s immune system and actually slow the body’s healing ability.
As you know when you are ill, you do not feel the need to eat a lot of food as the body is focusing more on healing. It is more important that you allow the body’s immune system to focus on the healing process.
White foods are heavy and will slow this process as the body needs to focus on digestion rather than healing. Therefore to promote healing and still gain nutrition needed for the body you should eat light, fresh foods which provide protein such as chicken or vegetable broth and drink hot liquids to keep strength up.
Hydrate and Rest
If you develop a fever (a clear sign your body is fighting illness) the best support you can give is to stay well hydrated on water and herbal teas and take plenty of rest. The body, when healing, will need extra hours of rest and to remain well hydrated. It is important you increase your water intake during the day to aide your system flushing out toxins from the body

Which homeopathic medication is correct for my cold and flu?
Aconitum is useful primarily during the first 24 hours after the onset of a cold.
Acontium is used for when a cold is developed after being exposed to dry cold weather. The symptoms of this cold include a dry, hoarse, croupy cough, especially worse at night and after midnight. Associated is a dry mouth, shortness of breath and little spit. The cough is worse from being cold, drinking cold water, from tobacco smoke, lying on either side, and at night.
Allium Cepa is used when the cold includes nasal discharge, burning sensation which is made worse in a warm room and feels better when in the cool. The nasal discharge will irritate the nostrils, causing pain when wiping your nose.
Other symptoms include profuse bland (non-burning) tearing from the eyes, reddened eyes and a tendency to rub them. In this flu or cold you may have a raw feeling in the nose with a tingling sensation as well as violent sneezing. Sometimes the discharge starts in the left nostril and moves to the right. You may occasionally experience a congestive headache in the front part of the head.
Gelsemium is used if you experience a watery nasal discharge, sneezing, and fullness at the root of the nose. Concurrent with this cold may be a fever, body aches, general fatigue, aching in the back part of the head, and sometimes a sore throat.
Hepar Sulphur is the remedy if you begin to sneeze from the least exposure to cold air. Accompanying this is a nasal discharge which is thick and yellow and your nostrils and the bones of the nose can become very sore. The nasal passages are sensitive to cold air and there is often a headache. Typically, especially in children, you are sensitive to touch and are generally irritable.
