Natural Remedies For Migraine Treatment.
So let’s now discover our home remedies for migraine combination therapy. The treatment consists of 3 Phases with a total of 5 steps.
Phase 1 – Herbal Preventatives.
This is easy, and consists of adding 2 herbal supplements to your daily diet. These can be sourced from your natural health store. I have also included links to the brands that I have used, tested and trust.
It is important to note that these supplements are preventative. They need to be a regular part of your diet to be effective. Neither of these herbal supplements can be used to halt or ease a migraine once developed.
The herbal supplements should be taken for at least 2 months. Ideally add these herbal supplements to your normal vitamin and diet, this needs to be daily and ongoing. Trust me, it is worth it!
Step 1- Feverfew Herbal Supplement.
The active ingredient in Feverfew is called parthenolide.
Parthenolide aides migraine relief by inhibiting chemical reactions in the brain that cause the blood vessels to over dilate.
Dilation of blood vessels is the cause of those serious temple throbbing pains associated with migraine.
Step 2 – Butterbur (Home Remedies For Migraine)
Butterbur extract has been used for centuries and is safe to take daily as part of a migraine prevention plan.
Butterbur, when taken regularly, has been proven to effectively aid the reduction of attacks and the severity of migraines.
Butterbur has both antispasmodic effects and anti-inflammatory properties.

Step 3 – Hydrotherapy
In plain English – interchanging hold and cold showers!
First take a shower with the water as hot as you can stand (without being burnt!) for two-three minutes.
The reason for this is that hot water increases the flow and amount of blood being sent to the skin.
Then change the shower to cold water, as cold as you can stand. This sends the blood to your core. Stay in cold water for two-three minutes.
Alternate this hot and cold hydrotherapy for twenty minutes.
This techniques increases your blood flow and assists circulation. As your blood circulates you bring nutrients to the organs and eliminate toxins from the body.
Getting your blood circulating also restores blood vessels to regular /normal size and reduces any over dilation (which causes the stabbing temple pain).
If this hot and cold shower regime is not something you are able to manage you can also sit with your feet in a bucket of very cold water and place a hot compress or towel on the back of your neck.
This will aide by bringing the blood down from your head and lobe areas and sending it to the feet.
Step 4 – Acupressure (Home Remedies For Migraine)
Acupressure, and in this case self-acupressure, is a simple and proven effective therapy for migraine.

Sit comfortably in a chair, feet flat on the ground and take several slow deep breaths.
Then firmly pinch the soft tissue between your thumb and forefinger and hold for 20 seconds. Repeat several times on both hands.
Now take your thumb and place it in your mouth.
With your thumb locate the cheekbone inside the mouth, the same side as the migraine, if one is occurring. Press the bone up and outwards.
Hold for 20 seconds then repeat on the other side of the mouth.
Finally place both of your thumbs on the upper palate inside your mouth.
Your soft thumb tissue should rest against your upper palate and inside upper teeth. Gently pull outwards. Hold for 20 seconds.
Repeat several times.
Finish by relaxing and taking several slow deep breaths and finish with a tall glass of cold water to hydrate.
Phase 3: Sensory Aromatic Relaxation
Step 5 – Aromatherapy.
Aromatherapy is excellent for migraine prevention and equally offers great sensory relief during attack. Ensure you source high quality essential oils for your aroma burner.
Peppermint and lavender are probably the best known essential oils for tension and migraine relief. Equally good and highly recommended are rosemary, eucalyptus, sandalwood and basil.
