5 Natural Remedies For Constipation (How To Stay Regular)
Number 1 – Blackstrap Molasses For Constipation Relief.
Sweeten your day by using Blackstrap molasses as part of your constipation treatment. This tasty and nutritional treat will work for even the most chronic cases of constipation.
Molasses is made by boiling the juice of sugar cane. As it condenses and concentrates the sugars crystallize leaving regular molasses.
Black strap molasses is made by the further boiling of regular molasses. This condenses it further increasing the crystallization. This process leaves a thick black molasses which is rich in minerals and vitamins.
In particular the black strap molasses contains high levels of magnesium. It is the magnesium that is actually what we are looking for. Magnesium is known to aid constipation and keeps our bowels healthy and regular.
All you need do is take 1 teaspoon of black strap molasses daily, in addition to your regular diet. If you only suffer the occasional episode of constipation simply take a teaspoon when you recognize the symptoms of constipation.
If you cant stomach the thought of eating a teaspoon of black strap molasses then you are able to dilute it in a half glass of warm water.
You can take up to 2 teaspoons of black molasses for chronic constipation relief…but I do suggest trying with 1 teaspoon initially. this stuff works…and it’s fast!
Number 2 – Baking Soda – Natural Constipation Remedies.
Baking soda is an all time “go to guy” for a huge number of home remedies. Wow! This salt does just about everything.
You probably know and use baking soda as a home cleaner…well you’ll be using it in a similar way here … just cleaning you rather than your counter tops!
Baking Soda is safe and one of the easiest natural remedies for constipation (in fact for any stomach or bowel discomfort) due to it being a bicarbonate.
As a bicarbonate it encourages the trapped air associated with constipation related bloating to be released from your system and thereby relieving the pressure pain.
As well as acting on our trapped air (which when released will move things along…) it also re-alkalizes our stomach and helps things pass through your system.
This may not be as tasty as Molasses but it is just as effective.
Take 1 teaspoon of baking soda and add it to a 1/4 cup of warm water. Drink the lot in one gulp. Don’t sip this remedy…all in one…down the hatch!
Number 3 – Epsom Salts – Natural Remedies For Constipation.
Epsom Salts are another often spoken of home remedy. Incredibly effective and easy to use which is why Epsom Salts makes it to number 3 of our constipation remedies.
The use of Epsom Salts is recommended as it works in 2 ways. It adds magnesium as well as drawing out stored water.
Epsom Salts will draw excess water retention from our body. This comes from the foods we have eaten and the liquids consumed. These liquids are absorbed and find their way into our bowels for excretion. This helps to soften our stool making it much easier to pass.
Epsom Salts also contain high levels of magnesium (similar to Black Strap Molasses) which causes our bowel muscles to contract aiding in our natural bowel movement.
If you don’t have Epsom Salt you can use regular table salt, as this will help draw water to soften the stool but unlike Epsom Salt it does not contain magnesium so is less effective.
To use this remedy add 2 teaspoons of Epsom salts to a glass of water or pure fruit juice. Ensure the salt dissolves and drink it all.
For children only 1/2 teaspoon.

Number 4 – Natural Constipation Relief – Fresh Ground Coffee.
There is so much talk we hear about coffee not being good for us and the dangers of caffeine. So why, on a natural holistic website, would you find a recommendation to drink coffee?
Simply put, all things in moderation!
Coffee is a natural product and is perfectly safe if not over consumed.
When you drink a cup of Coffee it acts as a natural stimulant. This will stimulate the bowels and digestive system. 1-2 cups of coffee per day will assist getting us regular and clearing constipation.
A word of warning – Coffee is also a diuretic meaning it will make you urinate more frequently. If you drink too much coffee it could have the opposite effect to that you are seeking. Too much coffee, due to its diuretic properties, can cause dehydration and make your constipation worse.
1 – 2 cups first thing in the morning will assist constipation. Any more coffee during the day and you need to follow that 1 cup of Joe with 1 cup of H2O.
