Our perfect pomegranate is also useful for people suffering from High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) because of their high levels of antioxidants and vitamin C. A hugely popular and effective home remedy for gas, wind and bloating is to add a few fennel seeds to a saucepan. Add 2 cups of water and bring to the boil. Simmer the water and fennel seeds for five minutes over a low heat.
Ensure that you strain the solution before you drink the fennel water.
Another simple bloat buster is to chew the fresh leaves of the fennel plant. Be warned, these leaves are strong, however this is very effective … if you can bear the taste.
One of my favorite remedies for gas and bloat is to make a herbal tea. Simply take half the leaves of a fennel plant, 3 cardamom pods and 10 – 12 mint leaves. Add the leaves to a saucepan with 2 cups of water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 3 minutes.
Drink whenever you feel a buildup of stomach gas.
Number 9 – Look To Lemons
Lemons are incredible for health. They are one of the richest natural sources of Vitamin C and contain essential nutrients such as Vitamin B, riboflavin, magnesium, phosphorus and calcium.
Just squeezing the juice of half a lemon into a mug of warm water and drinking will help eliminate the waste in your system. It also detoxifies and serves as a liver tonic.

To save making it fresh each time simply juice four lemons and add to 2 liters of water, or slice up the lemons and add to the water. Keep at room temperature or in the fridge, whichever you prefer!
Number 10 – Soothing Date Cough Syrup
First take 6 dates, open them and remove the seed (if necessary), slice in half and place into a small saucepan. Add half a liter of milf to the saucepan and bring to the boil. Simmer for approximately 25 minutes over low heat.
For sufferers of dry cough this natural syrup will ease your cough and soothe your throat. Drink up to three cups a day and take whenever your throat starts to tickle.
Number 11 – Holistic Honey And Ginger Tonic
Using fresh ginger root, cut and peel a 4cm piece of the root. Grate very finely into a small bowl. To this “ginger juice” add 3 teaspoons of honey.
This holistic honey and ginger tonic is perfect for several conditions, all related to nose, throat and sinuses.
Take half a teaspoon to help expectorate mucus and provide relief from the common cold. This mix will clear a cough, settle sinuses, open airways and soothe sore throats.

Our amazing Ayurveda cough syrup is well worth taking the time to make at home.
Start by peeling and slicing 2 medium brown or white onions into rings. Now take an airtight glass jar (or container) and your jar of raw honey.
Add a layer of onion in the bottom of your jar. Pour or spread a teaspoon of honey over the onion rings. Place another layer of onion and top with honey. Keep repeating until all the onion and 4-5 tablespoons of honey are inside your jar.
Seal the jar and let sit for 6-8 hours.
After this time you will notice a liquid has formed on top of your onion and honey mix. This liquid is an incredible home remedy for cough and cold. Simply take one tablespoon of the liquid every three hours. You will be amazed at how quickly your throat is soothed and your cough controlled.
Number 14 – Turmeric Salt Soothes Sore Throats
A wonderfully easy and extremely effective home remedy for a sore throat is our turmeric salt gargle!
Add half a cup of warm water to your mug. Then stir in a half teaspoon of salt and half a teaspoon of powdered turmeric. Stir well and gargle with the liquid,ensuring you don’t swallow.
It is important, after you gargle, you do not drink or eat anything for a minimum of thirty minutes. This allows the health benefits of salt and turmeric to work, by killing bacteria.
Both salt and turmeric are excellent antibacterials and using this gargle ensures your mouth and throat are cleared of the bacteria which causes sore throats.
You can repeat this gargle as often as you need throughout the day.
Number 15 – Tackle Sore Throat With Tulsi
When you are suffering with a severe sore throat and cough then treat with Tulsi.
Tulsi juice is made from the leaves of Holy Basil. Mix 4 tablespoons of tulsi juice with 1 tablespoon of garlic juice (mince garlic finely) and 2 tablespoons of honey.
One teaspoon of this tulsi mix taken once every three hours will cure excessive coughing and soothe a scratchy throat.
Number 16 – Ease Ear Infection With Garlic Juice Oil
First prepare your garlic juice.
- Take 6 cloves of garlic and put them through a garlic press to make garlic puree (or you can start with store bought minced garlic).
- Now add the garlic puree to a strainer and squeeze to separate the juice from the solids.
- Finally pour the juice through a cheesecloth (muslin)or a coffee filter paper.
You now have pure garlic juice!
Take one teaspoon of garlic juice and add to two tablespoons of olive oil. The garlic juice is a natural antibiotic, antiviral, and anti-fungal and our olive oil is anti-inflammatory. This makes it powerful for treating an ear infection!
With an eye dropper, or pipette, add 2 drops of the garlic juice oil mix into each ear. Do this twice a day.
Note: This home remedy should not be used if the ear infection is related to a ruptured ear drum.
Number 17 – Lemon Soda Deodorant
If anyone suffers from excessive perspiration, strong smelling body odor or has an allergic reaction to the chemicals in deodorants and antiperspirants then this is a wonderful natural remedy.
Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and mix to create a paste (it may fizz and that’s okay!)
Apply the lemon soda mix to the underarms, and other areas of excessive perspiration, and allow to sit for 10-15 minutes.
After this time shower and wash it off.
Do this daily for a few weeks and you will be amazed by how much your body odor and perspiration is reduced.
Number 18 – Boost Iron Levels With Dates
If you are affected by anemia or have an iron deficiency then this natural remedy is for you. It’s simple to make and filled with goodness.
Dates are packed with iron, calcium, manganese, copper and magnesium. Copper is the best natural ingredient to produce red blood cells and increase hemoglobin in your blood.
Ghee is rich in antioxidants and contains vitamins A and E. The antioxidants fight free radicals for a healthy immune and cardiovascular system.
Milk contains excellent amounts of Vitamin B12 which helps to treat / prevent pernicious anemia. It is important to remember that you should take milk in moderate amounts when dealing with iron deficiency. This recipe is a great way to incorporate a moderate amount of milk and gain the benefit of the B12.
Crush and pound 3-4 soft, stone removed, dates with 5 tablespoons of milk and a half teaspoon of ghee. Pound until a smooth mix.
If you eat this mix on a daily basis you will increase iron levels and it will help to treat / prevent Anemia.
Number 19 – Clear Complexion With Cool Cucumber
Freshly grate cucumber. Apply the grated cucumber over the face, the eye area (avoiding the eyes!) and the neck.
Leave the cucumber on the skin for fifteen minutes. Once the time has passed rinse the cucumber off and pat the face dry.
Cucumber has a number of properties which are beneficial for the health of your skin. These properties include hydrating levels of water, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E and a series of essential amino acids.
The vitamins in cucumber are all potent antioxidants and are said to help to reduce visible effects of free-radical damage on the skin.
Vitamin E is a vital ingredient in the skin and helps our body to repair the damage caused by acne.
Because cucumbers are around 96 percent water applying them to the skin helps to hydrate and moisturize our skin. This hydration helps reduce redness and swelling and makes the humble cucumber very beneficial for treating and clearing both acne and blackheads.
Number 20 – Diminish Dark Circles With Turmeric And Tomato
Freshly made tomato paste is an amazingly effective home remedy for the treatment of dark circles.
It is very easy to make at home.
Peel two large, ripe and fresh tomatoes. Chop and place into a blender. To the blender add one tablespoon of lemon juice, a quarter teaspoon of gram flour and quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder.
Blend all ingredients until they form a thick paste of even consistency. Apply the turmeric tomato paste very gently around your eyes. Sit quietly for 10 to 20 minutes. Then gently rinse off the paste with clean water.
Repeat these steps two or three times a week. This paste will help improve the skin tone around your eyes, lighten the skin shade and if used consistently will help rid yourself of those dark circles around the eyes.
